The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) advises the latest unemployment rate (September preliminary) in Jackson County is 5.3% of our total labor force of over 22,000.
Surveys reveal that employers in Jackson County usually attract at least 30 percent of their workforce from outside the county, primarily Jennings, Scott, and Bartholomew counties, as well as Lawrence and Washington counties.
